Officer Burkemper receives the 2006 Officer of the Year award having been nominated Officer of Month four times in 2006. Those months were January, February, May and December. He ranks first with 80 arrest, 98 assists and 75 felony charges. Plus, he has handled 1,954 radio calls and prepared 261 reports. He is trained in weapons of mass destruction, disaster response and crisis intervention. In addition, he has handled several incidents involving mental illness successfully. A fine example within the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and a well respected Officer.

Officers Mayer and Nerviani receive the December 2006 Officers of the Month award for extreme courage and professionalism during a domestic dispute. This involved a drunken suspect looking to harm his significant other with a loaded pistol who resisted arrest. Thank you for being safe and working through a difficult situation.
Officer Rudolph receives the November 2006 Officer of the Month award for an arrest that was adopted by the Office of the U.S. Attorney. During the arrest, Officer Rudolph seized marijuana, .25 semi-automatic handgun and 8.6 grams of crack cocaine. In addition, he made 18 Felony arrests, 25 parking ticket violations, 10 traffic summonses, 6 misdemeanors and 17 city ordinances. We commend the extremely hard work.
Officer Paiva receives the October 2006 Officer of the Month award for catching a rape suspect and resolving a stand off in a safe manner. He also worked a robbery for several days which resulted in a line up identification by the victim. Warrants were served. Officer Paiva’s strong investigative skills are an asset in his daily duties as well as being a Training Officer for the the unit.
Officer Simpson receives the September 2006 Officer of the Month award for arresting 13 individuals that amounted to 33 charges. He and his partner Joseph Seper recovered a stolen vehicle and the four juveniles involved. He has also spearheaded a fundraiser to purchas a paving stone at Busch Stadium commemorating St. Louis Police Department Fallen Officers. We are grateful for your exceptional commitment.

Officer Schroeder receives the August 2006 Officer of the Month award for admirably handling his daily duties of writing police reports and making arrest while taking the initiative to work with residents in highly targeted areas. By working with these residents, his drug arrests have increased and he recovered a loaded 12 gauge sawed off shot gun along with a large amount of heroin. His positive attitude makes him one of the finest.
Officer Rush receives the July 2006 Officer of the Month award for a single handedly stopping and apprehending an armed robber via foot chase. The victim was held at gunpoint with a 9mm silver automatic pistol. Upon arrest, Officer Rush learned that it was a chrome colored toy plastic replica. Great work from a well respected Officer within the Department.
Officer Mayer receives the June 2006 Officer of the Month award for a lot of foot chases. These resulted in the arrest of juveniles for tampering. Hence, they were sent to the Juvenile Detention center. He arrested some suspects for stealing a car. They too were charged with tampering. In two separate instances he arrested suspects for Robbery and Armed Criminal action. He also arrested a suspect for domestic assault and assault against a Law Enforcement Officer. Officer Mayer is an exceptinal Officer and is also the training Officer for the team.
Officer Butler receives the May 2006 Officer of the Month for his commitment to the community while working as the 7th District School Resource Officer. Using May as an example, Officer Butler made four arrests, wrote 25 traffic violations, 396 parking tickets, answered 468 radio calls and still worked with Public School students and faculty in the 7th District. His community activities include his wife Rhonda. Together they worked on the 9th annual bike giveaway at Ford Middle School. Officer Butler is a Mentor and a Leader.
Officer Simpson receives the April 2006 Officer of the Month award for making nine arrest that resulted in 50 charges. In addition he handled 86 radio assignments and wrote 22 I Leads reports. Then he apprehended a burglary suspect in the act. Finally, he captured two suspects who beat a victim about he head, arms and back with a wooden post. Thank you very much Officer Simpson.
