Officer Eugene Frie was nominated as Officer of the Month for January 2011.  Officer Frie made 13 arrests for 32 total charges in January.  During the month, her performed 122 instances of self-initiated activity while also being responsible for handling numerous radio assignments.  Officer Frie is a team player, and also an extremely reliable officer.

Police Officers work in close collaboration with the community they serve to maintain law and order, reduce the fear of crime and improve the quality of life for all citizens…those words describe Officers Andrew Kleffner and Adrian Patton

Officer Kleffner and Patton, who were partners the entire year of 2010, always conducted themselves in a professional manner and are very knowledgeable of the District and the individuals who cause problems in our neighborhoods.  Their work ethics set a shining example for the Officers of the 7th District.  During 2010, they had 158 arrests, 216 assists with 150 felony, 55 misdemeanor and 290 ordinance charges for a total of 495 charges.  During the year both Officers also received several Captains letters of Commendation.

On December 29, 2010 Officer George Henry and Officer Ryan Barone observed a vehicle which had just been taken in a robbery.  The Officers immediately activated their emergency lights at which time the occupants of the vehicle attempted to flee and after a short pursuit the suspects exited their vehicle and began to flee on foot.  The driver of the vehicle and passenger after a short foot pursuit were taken into custody and the weapon used in the robbery was recovered.

During another incident Officer Henry and Ryan observed a vehicle that was reported stolen and verified by the department dispatcher.  Officers stopped the vehicle at which time the suspect was taken into custody.  Once the suspect was in custody, placed in handcuffs and then placed in the rear seat of the police vehicle the Officers observed the suspect to be attempting to conceal an unknown item in the rear seat.  For the Officers safety the Officers removed the suspect and located a clear plastic bag containing multiple red capsules believed to be containing heroin.

During the month of November Officer Ryan Murphy and Officer Matthew Frichtl were responsible for 8 on-view arrests with 25 charges including Robbery, VMCSL, Tampering and Probation Violation.

Notable incidents include the arrest of a subject for Tampering 1st.  The suspect was operating a vehicle taken in a “carjacking” that occurred in St. Louis County and was the suspect in that Robbery.  The victim/witness possitively Identifed this subject as the person who committed the Robbery.

Another incident included an on-view arrest of four subjects for Robbery 1st/ACA and two subjects fo UUW and Probation Violation.  The Officers recovered the weapon used, the victims property and got a positive ID of the suspects by the victim.

Officer John Stevens was nominated as Officer of the Month in October for working deligently on a consistent basis to solve and deter crime during his tour of duty.  On October 8, a strongarm robbery took place and a broadcast description of the suspects was made.  He located three suspects in the area matching the description and detained them.  The victim responded and positively identified the suspects and the property taken was located on them.  On October 16th, Officer Stevens responded to the 5200 block of Wells to investigate a complaint of illicit drug use by subjects in the building.  The two subjects were located and arrested for “Occupying a Condemned Building”.  On October 28, Officer Stevens responded to an area of a robbery after hearing the description.  The suspect attempted to ellude him.  However he was able to locate the suspect and arrest him.  Victims postively identified the suspect and the money taken was located in shrubbery near the arrest location.

On September 14th , 2010 Officers Stein and Collins responded to a school to investigate a suspicious auto assignment.  The officers located a suspicious vehicle registered to a sex offender parked within 200 feet of the school.  The officers conducted surveillance in the area believing the individual who owned the van was still in the area.  During the surveillance the officers observed a subject matching the description provided “via computer” approach the van from the rear.  A further investigations revealed the subject was indeed a “Registered Sex Offender” and should not have been near the school.  Due to Officers Stein and Collins immediate response and investigation, a dangerous individual was removed from the streets and neighborhoods of our city.

During the month of July Officer Jacob Stein along with Officer Chris Annis  performed CPR on an elderly male who suffered from a heart attack.  Officer Stein and Officer Annis were able to keep the subject alive until EMS arrived. 

On another occasion, Officer Stein after being involved in a vehicle accident where he was struck twice and spun around mutltiple times, was able to exit his damaged patrol car and pursue on foot a subject that was wanted for a carjacking.  Officer Stein was able to call out the subject’s location and assisted in his apprehension.

During the month of June, Officer Adrian Patton and Andrew Kleffner had a total 20 felony charges, 5 Misdemeanor and 12 ordinance violations.  They also currently lead the District in year-to-date totals.  A notable arrest for the month of June included the arrest for and recovery of 4 handguns (including two taken during a burglary from a home) the capture of two escapees and another for possession of 1/2 ounces of cocaine base substance.  In addition to the above self-initiated activitiy/arrests, the Officers were responsible for investigating and completing supplemental reports of all Assault 1st incidents in the 7th District.

During the Month of May Officer Jennifer Story and Officer Brooks Lindhorst were recommended as Officer of the Month for their outstanding performance in capturing a violent offender who was wanted for Domestic Assault 1st.   Officer Story and Officer Lindhorst utilizing their outstanding investigative skills were able to locate and arrest this violent offender who was wanted for shooting his girlfriend 5 times.

Officers Ryan Barone and George Henry performed their tasks with exceptional consistency in all areas of their assigned duties.  The highlight of ther self-initiated activity included the arrest of a subject for Assault 1st on a Law Enforcement Officer.  Within 24 hours they also took another subject into custody who was wanted on three counts of Assault 1st on a Law Enforcement Officer.                                                                    

There were other outstanding arrests to praise these Officers including a Domestic Assault 2nd, DWI, Trafficking 2nd and Domestic Assault 3rd.  Besides these accolades both Officers continually lead their platoon in traffic summonses and parking tags issued.  These impressive statistics were accomplished while still completing calls for service in their beat area.
