On 10/10/11, Officer Quarles heard a gun shot in close proximity to him. He then observed 2 males fighting on a parking lot and immediately responded. Upon seeing the police vehicle, one of the suspects began to run from the scene. Officer Quarles followed the suspect at which time the suspect discarded what appeared to be a gun magazine and then a weapon. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody. Shortly thereafter a call was received for an attempt robbery. It was then learned the suspect taken into custody attempted to rob the victim as he walked into his place of employment. The victim fought back and was shot 2 times and struck in the head multiple times. The suspect was positively identified by the victim at the scene.
Officer Eaton & Pederson have performed
above and beyond their duties throughout the entire month of September. While on a detail focusing on Prostitution and Solicitation these Officers have affected 11 arrests for the month. While being pulled in many directions and changing their hours at moments notice, they have never lost their focus with the task at hand. Along with the 11 arrests they completed 24 Field Interview Reports, which could potentially provide useful information to the Seventh District Detectives.
Through aggresive Police work Officers Chamblin and
Clark produced 6 VMCSL arrests including 3 cases that were Trafficking 2nd. Officer Chamblin also seized a sawed-off shotgun that resulted in a Unlawful Possession case wherein state warrants were issued and the case is being entertained but the United States Attorney’s office. Officer Chamblin and Clark also arrested a subject for Tampering 1st with warrants being issued. They have also arrested several subjects for Felony warrants including Probation Violations to Burglary 1st. Total charges for the month of August included 20 Felonies, 5 Misdemeanors and 20 City Charges.
Officer Gaddis epitomizes integrity, dedication and teamwork. He consistently displays paramount efforts to approach his duties. Officer Gaddis mans a department vehicle that is often it not always subject to a high a volume of the radio assignments. Nonetheless; he utilizes proper discretion and manages to assist othe patrol officers on self initiated and dispatched assignments. He makes himself available by being efficient and properly patrolling his area and the district without waiver or complaint.
In June Officer Rask observed a male wearing red flannel clothing. He made note of the subject, due to the distinct clothing. Approximately two minutes later, a radio assignment for a Robbert in progress came out in the area of Page and Hamilton and the description of the suspect matched the male the Officer Rask had observed prior. Officer Rask responded to the area and located the suspect. After a foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody. The victim’s property was recovered at the scene, as well as the clothing the suspect was wearing during the robbery. The suspect was found to be in possession of a fully loaded, stolen firearm from University City, MO as well as 14 cartridges. Charges for Robbery 1st, ACA and Resisting Arrest were issued by the Circuit Attorney’s Office on the suspect.
On May 17th, Officers were dispatched to a call for “Shots Fired” , and shortly thereafter a second call for a “Robbery” at the same location, with a Suspect description broadcast. Officer Krumm responded to the area to assist and search for the Suspect. Krumm observed the subject matching the description, and conducted a pedestrian check. Krumm started to conduct a “pat down”, when the Suspect turned and ran. Krumm began to chase the Suspect, who suddenly turned, pulled a pistol from his waistband and pointed it at him. In fear of his life Officer Krumm fired his pistol at the Suspect, who then returned fire. As the Suspect began to run south from the location, Krumm took cover behind the police car and ordered the Suspect to drop his weapon; however the Suspect continued to fire his weapon at Krumm. The Suspect then ran south, until out of sight. A short time later, the Canine Unit apprehended the Suspect who was hiding in a vacant lot two blocks from the scene. Officer Krumm distinguished himself by his response to the area and locating the Suspect. He further demonstrated courage, dedication, and professionalism while under direct fire and in the face of extreme personal danger.
Officer Nicholas Manasco has proven himself to be a valuable asset not only to the Seventh District but to the entire North Patrol Division. On several occassions other districts have requested Officer Manasco’s help with identifying, clearing and making unusual weapons safe at the station. Officer Manasco investigates calls in a professional safe manner which has led to arrests for drugs and weapons. Whenever possible Officer Manasco is placed in a car with younger less experienced officers so he can teach them how to more effectively and safely police the streets of the community he serves.
Officer Drew Happel & Officer Francis Koziacki showed
great performance in the month of March. They made numerous arrest, including two arrest of wanted persons for Murder 1st which greatly helped in the homicide investigations done by the Homicide Detectives. They further made two felony arrests for VMCSL-possession and numerous misdemeanor and city charge arrests. They totalled 11 subjects arrested in the month of March, which greatly helped in reducing the crime within the 7th Police District.

The highlight of Officer Chamblin’s self-initiated activity included the arrest of two offenders for VMCSL. Officer Chamblin also arrested another offender for Tampering 1st. There were other outstanding arrests to praise this Officer for, as he is tenacious in apprehending suspects with outstanding warrants. Besides these accolades, Officer Chamblin continually competes with other officers on his squad to lead their platoon in traffic summonses and parking tags issued. Officer Chamblin’s statistics were accomplished while still completing calls for service in his beat area.
